How to renew Indian Passport in Qatar

An application for a new passport can be made within one year of expiry of the old passport. All applicants are advised to submit their applications for renewal of passport at least 3 months before the Expiry Date.

NOTE : All passports issued before 2001 need to be upgraded to machine readable passports (Click for details).

Passport options

You can either apply for :

  • a ten year validity 36-paged normal passport booklet (Fees: QR 275/-) OR
  • a 64-paged jumbo passport booklet (Fees: QR 370/-).

1. Download the application form (EAP-I Form) and Datasheet (EAP-1D Form). You can also obtain these forms from the embassy free of cost or submit a photocopy of the forms.

2. Fill all columns carefully and legibly.

(TIP : You can get these done through freelance typists who are available in front of Indian Embassy during early mornings. They charge you a small fee, but have better knowledge about the technical terms.)

3. Furnish 2 photographs (colour) size 50 mm x 50 mm front view of full face against white background.  Photos taken with coloured or dark glasses and in uniform are not acceptable.

Click here for detailed specifications on photograph quality.

(TIP : Get your latest photo taken in a good photo studio as they would know the required quality. Bad photo is a common reason why many applications get rejected.)

Option 1 : Renewal through Indian Embassy

4. The Consular Section of the embassy accepts the passport applications between 09:00 AM and 12:15 PM from Sunday through Thursday.

  4. My indian passport issued in 1997 was renewed in Dubai in 2007 with the validity upto 2017. As now I’m in Qatar, I would like to renew my passport here. Kindly request you to let me know, within how many days, I will get my renewed passport, as I heard police clearance will be required, which might take some time.

    • Hi JP, This is not police verification. If your last passport was issued in Dubai, the Indian Embassy may need to verify with the consulate in Dubai. In some cases, this may take few days more than usual – may be one month or less. The Embassy in Qatar will let you know the delivery date when you submit for renewal.
