Qatar Amir issues law establishing workers’ support and insurance fund

Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has issued Law No 17 of 2018 establishing the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund. The Amir also issued Tuesday Law No 16 of 2018 regulating the non-Qatari ownership and use of properties, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported. According to the provisions of Law No 17 of 2018, a fund under the name “Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund” shall be established with a legal entity. The fund aims to support, ensure and provide care for workers, guarantee their rights and provide a healthy and safe working environment for them. The purpose of the new fund is to pay the workers ‘benefits, which are settled by the labor dispute settlement committees, in order to avoid actions that may take time and affect workers’ ability to fulfill their obligations towards their families or third parties. Travel without exit permit comes into force from today

Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has started implementing the amendment of Article No. 7 concerning the cancellation of the travel (exit) permit notice of Law No. 21 of 2015 regarding the entry and exit of expatriates and their residence. Director of Airport Passports Department Col Mohammed Rashid Al Mazroui confirmed that the Ministry of Interior, in the framework of facilitating procedures and travel through the country’s ports, started implementing Article No. 7 regarding the cancellation of the travel (exit) permit notice from early morning today (Sunday). Dubai-bound Air India Express hits wall, diverted to Mumbai

Passengers onboard an Air India Express flight from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu to Dubai escaped a major accident after the wheels of the plane hit the airport outer wall while taking off early on Friday, officials said. The flight IX-611, with 130 passengers and six crew, took off at around 1.20 a.m. and was then diverted to Mumbai where it made a safe emergency landing around 5.40 a.m. Captain D. Ganesh Babu was informed of the incident by the groud staff at Trichy. Captain Babu reported that the aircraft system were operating normally but diverted the flight to Mumbai as “a precautionary measure”, said an Air India official. Trichy- Dubai Air India flight with 136 passengers on board hit the ATC compound wall at Trichy Airport yesterday and was diverted to Mumbai. Kerala’s fourth international airport to open on December 9

Kerala’s fourth international airport, in Kannur, is slated to open on December 9 following an approval by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), a top official said here on Friday. Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL) managing director V. Thulasidas confirmed the launch date, saying “we are ready for operations”. KIAL authorities are trying their best to see that commercial operations commence soon after the inauguration, but the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will take a decision on that. Already, 11 international carriers and six domestic operators have confirmed their flights out of KIAL. The first trial operations were undertaken successfully at the airport on September 20, and a repeat rehearsal the following day. On Thursday, DGCA gave its final approval for the airport opening. Over 307,000 students return to school on Wednesday

More than 307,000 students will return to school on Wednesday, after the Ministry of Education and Higher Education completed its preparation for the new academic year 2018-2019. The preparations involved ensuring the schools will take up the new number of students, that transportation is available, and that the food products offered in the school cafeterias are in line with regulations. The ministry also signed a total of 711 teachers, bringing the total in public schools to 13,440, compared to 13,591 in private schools. The ministry added a total of 5,065 seats, by opening new schools in preparation for the new academic year. It also assigned a total of 2,117 buses to different schools, each according to its location.
