Dubai to operate world’s largest solar power project

Dubai will implement the world’s largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project valued at 14.2 billion dirhams ($3.87 billion), UAE daily Gulfnews reported on Saturday. The CSP project will be implemented by Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (Dewa). And the largest single-site project will generate 700 megawatts (MW) of power when it is completed in the last quarter of 2020, parallel to the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, Xinhua reported. The project will include the world’s tallest solar tower, standing 260 metres tall, the report said. The project comes as part of implementing the fourth stage of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and to support the end goals of Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, said the report. World’s first smart police service centre opened in Dubai

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday opened the world’s first smart police service centre at City Walk. The smart centre will operate without human intervention and be open 24/7 to offer 27 key services, including reporting of crimes and traffic incidents and community services. It will also provide 33 fully automated sub-services. On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, Qatar’s Emiri Diwan has announced the Eid holiday for ministries, government departments and public institutions. According to the announcement, Eid holiday for ministries and other government entities and public institutions will start on Thursday, August 31, 2017 (Dhul Hijja 9, 1438 H) and till Thursday, September 7, 2017 (Dhul Hijja 16, 1438 H). Employees will resume work on Sunday, September 10, 2017 (Dhul Hijja 19, 1438 H). As for Qatar Central Bank (QCB), the banks and financial institutions working under the supervision of QCB and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), the QCB governor will announce the start of the holiday. Qatar Emir sends message to Prime Minister of India

Qatar Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent Saturday a written message to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, pertaining to the bilateral relations and ways to develop them. Crescent moon sighted, Eid Al Adha to be on September 1

The Dhul-Hijjah crescent was sighted today according to a tweet posted by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), which means that Wednesday, August 23, will be the first day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, and Eid Al Adha will be on September 1.
