E-approval required before bringing medicines to UAE

Residents and tourists who need to carry personal medicines to the UAE will have to first fill up an electronic form, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced. The form can be downloaded for free on the MoHAP website (www.mohap.gov.ae) or its app. The quantity of medicines to be brought to the country should not exceed a personal use period of three months for non-controlled medicines and one month for controlled and semi-controlled ones. Guidelines for carrying of personal medicines with travelers in to the United Arab Emirates Applicants need to submit a prescription issued by the attending physician, a medical report approved by health entities and a copy of Emirates ID or passport. U.S Senators Oppose India’s New Data Localization Policy

Relations between India and United States of America are strained following the implementation of India’s data localization policy. As of October 15, all payment data on domestic transactions in India will be stored inside the country. Dubai airports unveils ‘smart tunnels’ for faster passport control

General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai has launched the pilot phase of Smart Tunnel at Dubai Airports’ Terminal 3 to enable Emirates Airlines passengers to finish passport control procedures in less than 15 seconds. The initiative, a first of its kind in the world, is currently available to first and business class travelers of Emirates Airlines. How the system works As per the new system, the traveller simply have to walk through the tunnel and look at the camera, equipped with biometric recognition technology. The Smart Tunnel assesses passengers data accurately using machine learning in order to facilitate and accelerate the process of transit through Dubai airports without the need to use any travel documents or boarding card as in the use of “smart gates”. Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa on Tuesday will showcase special LED screenings to mark the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. Indian naval ship to arrive at Doha’s Hamad Port on Tuesday

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai, a guided missile destroyer, is arriving at Hamad Port early Tuesday, on a three-day visit of Qatar. QP signs 3-year naphtha deal with Indian company

Qatar Petroleum has signed a three-year sale agreement to supply India’s Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) in the West Bengal state, with a total of 600,000 tonnes of light naphtha. The deal signed for and on behalf of Qatar Petroleum for the Sale of Petroleum Products Company (QPSPP), will start this year, QP said on Wednesday. IndiGo to start daily services to two more cities from Doha

IndiGo, which is India’s largest passenger airline in terms of market share, will start operating to two more destinations in India – Thiruvananthapuram and Ahmedabad from Doha in early October. The daily non-stop service between Doha and Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala state, will be from October 1. The daily non-stop service between Doha and Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat state, will be from October 2, IndiGo announced on Wednesday. Indian Rupee hits fresh low at 72.73 to a dollar

The rupee hit a fresh low against the dollar for the second day as it touched ₹72.73 in the afternoon trade as compared to the previous close of ₹72.45 a dollar, which was an all-time low. The previous intra-day low was on Monday when the currency hit ₹72.67 to a dollar. A combination of domestic and international factors like worsening balance of payments situation and trade wars have impacted emerging market currencies and the rupee is no exception. Besides, unabated foreign fund outflows, sharp plunge in domestic equities with the benchmark Sensex crashing by over 500 points, too, weighed on the domestic unit, dealers said.
