Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, the sequel to all time blockbuster Bahubali: The Beginning, dubbed into four languages, have reportedly set a new record in Qatar with the maximum number of screenings in a day.
The movie, which started its journey in Qatar on Thursday with over 100 screenings in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu versions is having 145 screenings on Friday.
145 screenings on a single day is a huge number for a country like Qatar where the number of cinemas is comparatively low.
The opening day was met with huge response with almost all cinemas running houseful. Initial reviews suggest that the movie has exceeded audience expectations.
On Friday, the Tamil version of the movie has 53 shows while the Telugu version has 38 shows. Malayalam and Hindi versions have 27 shows each, which includes 4 shows in iMax.
All the four cinemas in Asia Town is screening only Bahubali 2.
In some cinemas, advance booking for the movie had begun last week. Also Bahubali: The Beginning was re-released in some cinemas.
Made at an astonishing budget by the Indian standard, the movie has already amassed more than double in business with Rs 5 billion well before the Indian release on Friday.
Bahubali 2 will be the first Telugu film to be released in 4K High Definition format. Reports in Indian media says close to 200 screens were upgraded to 4K projectors before the release of the movie.
S S Rajamouli, the film director won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 2015 for Bahubali: The Beginning.
