Doha’s Hamad International Airport has set up a separate section in the passport control unit to check documents, including passports, that are suspected to be forged.
This section is equipped with the latest technology to analyze the documents and find out forged ones.
The VSC 6000 (Video Spectral Comparator) machines installed at the immigration counters, at both the arrival and departure terminals, are comprehensive digital imaging systems providing the document examiner with an extensive range of facilities for detecting irregularities on altered and counterfeit documents.
If the immigration officials suspect a document to be forged or fake, they hand over the document to the Scrutiny Section, who would analyze it with specialized techniques.
However, HIA officials say that attempts of entry with fake documents are very rare at Doha airport.
