An Indian national who works as a cleaner at Dubai Festival City Mall was awarded for his honesty and dedication after he found a bag containing AED 100,000 in cash during his daily rounds at the mall.

Nisham Kunnath Valappil, an employee with Transguard Group, received a cash bonus, a plane ticket home, an extra seven days’ holiday and a trophy for his honesty and returning the bag to its rightful owner.

Nisham said that he found the bag during his rounds at the mall’s male prayer room and immediately contacted his supervisor.

“I’m extremely proud to have received this award from Transguard, to be recognised by the senior management team is a great honour, more importantly however is that the bag was returned to its owner,” he added.

Nisham was awarded at the Transguard staff party where the runner-up award went to Muhammed Samar Shaheen, a loader at Dubai International Airport, who found a substantial amount of money while offloading a flight.

His honesty insured the money was returned to its owner and Muhammad was awarded a trophy and a cash bonus for his efforts.

“At Transguard we are committed to ensuring employee well-being and happiness is at the core of our business model. Our employees are our most valuable asset so we prioritise a wide range of activities throughout the year from sporting events to singing competitions to yoga classes and popcorn and movie nights,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group.

Thousands of staff enjoyed the festivities at the annual Transguard staff party in Dubai, helping the Emirates Group company celebrate another successful year, the company said in a statement.
