An Indian expatriate in UAE became an instant millionaire on Sunday after winning Dh12 million in the latest Big Ticket raffle draw in Abu Dhabi.
42-year-old Hari Krishnan V. Nair, a resident of Dubai, hit the jackpot at the draw held in Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Krishnan, who hails from Kerala, won Dh12 million (around Rs 20.6 crores) – the biggest-ever raffle prize money by the Big Ticket – for his ticket number 086828.
Krishnan, who works as a business development manager for a firm in Dubai, has been living in the UAE with his family since 2002.
His wife Nisha works as a logistics support staff. The couple have a seven-year old son, Karan.
While speaking to Khaleej Times, Krishnan said that it was the third time he was buying the Big Ticket, but never expected to win.
“I do not have any special plans as such. I have to sit down with a cool head and plan my life ahead. One thing I am sure. I do not want to leave the UAE. This is the place where dreams come true. Also, I won’t leave my job either because I am very happy with my boss,” he said.
“I would like to plan for my son’s education and buy another house in India. I want to take good care of my mother and my wife’s mother too, who are in India.”
“I have always wanted to help people in need, and by God’s grace I can do it now. That is something I will really do,” he added.
Tickets to the Big Ticket Abu Dhabi can be purchased online or at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Ain Duty Free or City Terminal Abu Dhabi.
Tickets cost Dh500. Anyone who buys two tickets will only pay for one ticket under a buy-one-get-one free scheme.
