Indian housewife wins $1 million at Dubai Duty Free raffle

Indian housewife Shanthi Achuthan Kutty is the latest lucky winner to get one million US Dollars (Rs 6.46 crore) in Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw.

Shanthi, holder of ticket number 4664 in Series 242, was declared winner at the DDF Millennium Millionaire Promotion held on Tuesday in Concourse B at Dubai International Airport.

Furthermore, a Finest Surprise draw took place directly after the Millennium Millionaire.

The lucky winner to take home the stylish Ducati bike in Series 304 with ticket number 0400 was Thomas Clement, a 50-year-old biker.

Clement, an Indian national who works in FedEx Customer Care, was thrilled when he heard of his win and commented: “It is rewarding to receive a call from Dubai Duty Free since I’m a regular participant of the Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise promotions, and I thank Dubai Duty Free for such a great surprise and look forward to receiving my brand new bike.”

Following the Finest Surprise draw, Dubai Duty Free presented a BMW 750Li xDrive M Sport to Manuchandran Gopalakrishna Pillai, an Indian national living in Sharjah who won a brand new car in Series 1653 with ticket number 0201.

Hamid Latif Zainel, the raffle winner in Series 241 with ticket number 3958, flew in from Qatar to Dubai, and was delighted to have won.

“I would like to thank Dubai Duty Free for such a memorable day in my life,” he exclaimed.

The winning ticket numbers were drawn by Dubai Duty Free senior officials, including Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman and chief executive officer; Ramesh Cidambi, chief operating officer; Salah Tahlak, executive vice president for corporate services and Sinead El Sibai, senior vice president for marketing.
