The wife of an Indian driver, who was murdered by two house maids while in UAE, refused to accept the blood money (diya) and insisted on capital punishment.
The wife confirmed in a letter that she would not pardon the two maids responsible for her husband’s death, Khaleej Times has reported.
The women, a 32-year-old Indonesian and a 35-year-old Filipina, are charged with adultery and premeditated murder of the 43-year-old Indian driver at the house of their Emirati sponsor.
According to the court records, both the accused were in a relation with the victim and wanted to get rid of him as he blackmailed and threatened them.
During the pre-planned murder in October 2014, the two maids drugged the victim and strangled his neck with a cord.
The brother of the deceased, who attended the hearing at the Sharjah Shariah Court of First Instance, told the daily that the family would continue the legal process until the maids get the capital punishment.
The lawyer asked for 45 days so that he can get in touch with the two sons of the deceased. The court adjourned the case to enable the lawyer of the accused to consult the victim’s children.
