Passengers can now use their Emirates ID to buy personalised Nol cards under a new scheme by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai.
The ‘Nol Express’ card aims to scrap the hassle of manually applying and waiting 15 days for the card, which will now be issued within minutes.
“This initiative conforms to the drive of the Dubai government to bring happiness to people and make Dubai the smartest city in the world,” said Khaled Abdul Rahman Al Awadhi, Director of Automated Fare Collection, Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of RTA.
“It also echoes RTA’s standing commitment to deliver an array of smart and excellent services to public transport users.
“We have carried this initiative in collaboration with the Emirates Identity Authority aiming to streamline procedures of converting the Emirates ID card into a smart e-application through using the particulars of the customer entered in the Emirates ID card as a source of information needed for issuing the NOL card.”
The service will be provided to users at no additional cost. During the first stage, the service had been launched through Zoom outlets at Burjuman and Al Fahidi Metro Stations.
Eight outlets will be added by the end of November this year at metro stations namely: Al Rashidiya, Salah Uddin, Deira City Center, Al Qiyadah, Emirates Exchange, Mall of the Emirates, Union Square and Baniyas. This will bring the number of places offering this service to 10 metro stations.
