Music lovers in Doha were treated to a memorable evening of brilliance as India’s leading playback singer Shreya Ghoshal performed live on Sunday. The event titled ‘Salam Doha’ was held at West End Park Amphitheatre and was organised by Rami Productions Middle East.
Entering with her hit number ‘Sun Raha Hai’, Shreya Ghoshal was received with thunder applause and cheers from a packed crowd of more than 12,000. After that, she hardly left the stage for the next three-plus hours, fulfilling the expectations of even the most demanding audience, offering back to back hit numbers.
“Sa Re Ga Ma Pa” fame Hrishikesh Ranade did the warm-up act, rendering “Teri Galiyan,” and “Har Kisiko Nahin Milta Yahan Pyar,” in his winsome, deep voice. The talented singer also teamed up with Shreya for several duets.
A four-time National Award winner (and recipient of several other awards), Shreya Ghoshal pulled together all the elements that make watching live performances so worthwhile. She also sang three songs in Malayalam and expressed her thanks to the great encouragement she has received from Keralites.
After a few melodies, she turned the volume up full-throttle for chartbusters like “Yeh Ishq Kya Hai” , “O Balma,” and “Nagada Sung Dhol Baaje,” to bring down the house.
What really amused the audience was her tremendous energy to keep on singing for hours as well keeping the crowd entertained with pep talks and dance moves.
