Q-POST on Sunday released a postal stamp in commemoration of the first International Yoga Day (IYD).
The stamp was released at an event organised at the Al Arabi Football Stadium.
Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE Sanjiv Arora, Foreign Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs HE Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mutib al Rumaihi and Qatar Postal Services Company (Q-Post) Chairman Faleh Mohammed al Naemi were present at the event.
The Indian Ambassador thanked Qatar for being one of the 177 nations to co-sponsor the resolution moved by India at the United Nations to celebrate June 21 as the International Yoga Day.
“Yoga is very much a part of the Indian cultural ethos promoting a holistic way of life. It now belongs to the entire mankind,” said the ambassador.
Rumaihi said,”Popularity of yoga in Qatar has increased not only among Indians but also among Qataris and other foreign nationals.”
Faleh Mohammed al Naemi said,”I would love to introduce yoga at Q-Post to overcome the constant stress our employees face in their day-to-day job of delivering posts on time.”
People from all walks of life joined the occasion to perform yoga in a group
