Qatar Airways will be taking the record number of aircraft next year, said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, yesterday.

A multiple award-winning airlines, Qatar Airways will take delivery of over 40 aircraft next year, which is the highest number of delivery taken by any airline in the world during a year.

“Up to now, we are getting around on an average 35-36 airplanes a year. Next year we are earmarked to get over 40 aircraft. This will be the highest 12-month aircraft delivery to Qatar Airways. I don’t think there is any other airline in the world that is taking 40 aircraft in a year,” he said replying to the question by The Peninsula in a press conference.

Qatar Airways will be the first airline in the world to use the GE360 Foam Wash, which will improve engine performance and fuel efficiency, reduce maintenance demands, and use 40 percent less water.

Al Baker announced the launch of a “revolutionary” new engine-cleaning system, developed in partnership with GE, one of QSTP’s international partner companies.
